It is not true that only black people can have nice dreads.

Although the kind of texture Black/ African people have naturally, it makes it easier for their hair to lock, giving rise to fine locks of hair. This doesn't mean hair with different texture can't be locked. All kinds of hair with the right length can be made into dreadlocks.

One more common misunderstanding amongst the masses is that only Africans get their hair locked. Many cultures across the world have dreadlocks. Many religious devotees in India lock their hair as a tribute to Lord Shiva.
